', Grave apprehension is felt for the safety of the schooner Fiery Cross, now twentv-eight days out from Oamaru She was spoken more than a fortnight ago t close to the harbor. The following vessels were in port, last night'— St»amers —Wellington, Samson, Rangatira, Hinemoa, * Albion, and Grafton. Ships Rakaia, St Leonards. Pareora, and Zealandia. Barques—Tone, Alexa, Lochnagar, Southern Cross, and Amelia Ross. Three-masted schooner—Ellerton. Brig—Wild Wave. The Union Company's steamer Albion left Melbourne at 0.40 p.m. on the 14th. reached Hobarton at 3.15 p.m. on the 16th : sailed again at 8.20 p.m for the Bluff, where she arrived at daylight on the 21st; left at 5 p.m., called at Port Chalmers and Lyttelton, leaving the latter port at S 40 p.m. on the 23rd; passed Cajie Campbell at 10 45 a.m. yesterday, and arrived in port at 3 p.m. Experienced fine weather and light winds along the Coast. The Albion returns to Melbourne and Hobarton via Southern ports at 2 p.m. on Monday. The schooner Aurora, from the East Coast, with a cargo of wool for her owner, Mr. E. Pearce. arrived in harbor yesterday morning. The steamer Southern Cross got away for Auckland - and East Coast ports yesterday afternoon. The Union Company's steamer Taiaroa arrived from _, Manukau and intermediate ports at 3 a.m. yesterday. She returned to the same ports during the i evening. The steamer Manawatu left for Wanganui yester- p day afternoon. She returns to port on Sunday. fr The schooner Aurora cleared at the Customs yesterday, and will sail for East Coast ports to-day. The steamers Tui, from Foxton. and Kiwi, from East Coast, are due here this morning: the former leaves for Wanganui, and the latter returns to the East Coast this evening. a The barque I.ochnagar was berthed at the wharf S yesterday forenoon. She will break bulk 'to-day. b The Union Company's steamer Hawea left Auckland at 430 p.m. on Monday, called at Tauranga, a Gisborne, and Napier, leaving the latter port at 10 a m. on Thursday, and arrived in harbor at 5.45 a.m. yesterday. She sailed again at 1 p.m. for Lyttelton and Port Chalmers, with the Southern portion of the San Francisco mail. Tho barque Amelia Ross was towed into the fairway f yesterday. She will probably sail for Auckland to-day. The schooner Amaranth arrived from the Manukau late on Thursday night. Private advices received yesterday by the San Francisco mail state that the barque Atlanta, which left Bo ton on May 12 for this port, and is consequently 165 days out, had put into Capo Town on August 11 for repairs, having sustaine' serious damage in a gale. This news has relieved the serious t] apprehensions wflich wero beginning to be felt for Cl her safety. Y The steamer Stormbird left for Foxton yesterday » afternoon, butroturned to the wharf shortly after, to r: report the melancholy news of the loss of one of the crew whi'e engaged in catting the anchor off Evans Bar.
