RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Thursday, September 25. (Before T. A. Hansford, Esq., K.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A female drunkard was discharged from custody, she having been locked up all night. LARCENY. Frank Araoor 'was charged with having, on September 18, stolen goods to the value of £l3 95,, the property of his employers, Messrs. Turnbull, Smith, and Co. The evidence of Mr. John Muir, warehouseman in the service of the firm named, was to the effect that the accused had been in their employment as porter and packer. On the 18th, between 1 and 2 p.m,, he saw prisoner in Manners-street with a pair of trousers on his arm, and also saw him go into Emeny s Hotel with them. Prisoner admitted having taken them. Detective Brown had subsequently shown witness some goods, which he identified as the property of Messrs. Turnbull. Mr. Emeny proved that prisoner had offered him the trousers for a small sum, and said he had brought them from Home with him. The evidence of Detective Brown having been taken, prisoner was committed for trial, bail being allowed, himself in £SO, and two sureties of £25 each. JUDGMENT SUMMONSES. Cltland v. Ellis, £7 6s.—-Defendant ordered to pay £2 a month, or to have four weeks’ imprisonment. Fisk v. Ingley, claim £l3 7s.— Defendant ordered to pay in four weeks, or six weeks’ imprisonment. CIVIL CASES. Judgment for plaintiff was given as follows ; Oleland v. Whitten, claim £1 7s. 3d.; Strike v. Andrews, £2 13s. Id.; Bassett v. Minifie, £l9 9s. lid.; Edmonds v. Baker, £9 125.; Moore r. Hicks, £2; Johnston v. Davies, £5 12s. 6d.; Elygor v. Laery and Campbell, £3 3s.
