Arawata arrived from Port Chalmers at 7.20 this morning, and leaves for Wellington this afternoon. KAXKOURA, Thursday. Sailed ; 11 a.m., Hula, for Wellington, WANGANUI. Thursday. Arrived ; 11 a.m., Tui and Manawatu, from Wellington. ONEHUNGA, Thursday. Sailed: 2 15p.m., Rangatira, for Wellington, via Taranaki and Wanganui. PORT CHALMERS, Thursday. Arrived : Nonpareil, barque, from Newcastle; Wanganui, schooner, from Greymouth ; Maori, from Timaru ; Arawata, from Melbourne; Wanganui, from the West Coast. Sailed : City of Cashmere, for Portland, Oregon ; Rotorua, for Melbourne ; Arawata, for the North; passengers for Wellington; Miss Coble, and Mr. Holdsworth. The time-ball maybe used to-day for rating chronometers. A. chronometer true on Greenwich time would show 12h. 30min. when the ball drops. Any difference is error, plus or minus, of tho chronometer. The following vessels were in port last night:— H.M.S. Emerald. Steamers—Stella, Wakatlpu, and Grafton. Ships—Pleiono, Halcione, and Pareora, Barques—Chaudiere, Loch Cree, Edwin Bassett, and Beemah. Brigantine—Ned White. The Union Company’s steamer Waitaki left Port Chalmers at 3.45 p.m. on the 19th, and reached Lyttelton at 9 a.m. on the 20th; sailed again at 4.39p.m. and arrived in harbor at 7.45 yesterday morning. Experienced fresh southerly wind with heavy swell throughout tho passage. The Waitaki is a similar boat to the Wanaka, and is to be temporarily engaged in performing the Manukau service, in conjunction with the Wellington and Talaroa. She sailed for the Manukau at 12 o’clock last night. Tho brigantine Ned White broke bulk yesterday, and is turning out her cargo in first-class order. I

The steamer Stortnbird sailed for Foxton at eight o'clock last night. Tho Union Company’s steamer Arawata, wish the Suez mail, from Melbourne via Southern ports, is duo hero this forenoon.
The steamer Murray left at six o'clock yesterday for Nelson and Coast ports.
