MEETINGS OF CREDITORS.

A meeting of creditors of J. E. Gilbert, publican, late of Palmerston North, was held at the Supreme Court yesterday, Mr. Levin being voted to the chair. Mr. T. W. Young was appointed trustee, and the meeting was adj mrned to afford the bankrupt, who is detained at Wanganui, an opportunity of being present.

A meeting of creditors of Samuel Meyers, grocer, adjourned from the previous day, was to have been held yesterday, bat as there were not creditors enough present to form a quorum, the meeting again lapsed, Mr. W. S. Waters being appointed trustee by the registrar. At the conclusion of this business a scene occurred, the debtor, entirely unprovoked, using most insulting language to Mr. Moeller, a creditor, whom he addressed in German. Mr. Moeller stood it well for some time, but as the debtor continued to pour forth a. perfect torrent of German <E billingsgate,” Mr. Ivruil and Mr. Meeller drew Mr. Wilmer's atten-

tion to it, and that officer advised Mr. Moeller to take out a summons against the offender. This Mr. Moeller expressed bis unwillingness to do, and then left the room in company with Mr. Krull and Mr. Wilmer, when the proceedings terminated. In the matter of Stephen Clading, painter, Masterton, a meeting of creditors was held, presided over by Mr. E. W. Mills, and Mr. \V. Wylie was appointed a trustee. The assets were set down at £62, and the liabilities at £206.

A meeting of creditors »f Robert Davis, storekeeper, was also held, at which Mr. Adam Armstrong presided. The chairman was appointed trustee. The statement of assets showed £ll7 in excess of liabilities, and the debtor recreated time in which to pay up. The meeting was adjourned to enable the trustee to investigate the estate and report to a future meeting.
