MEETINGS OF CREDITORS.

A meeting of creditors of Messrs. Rod, Marks, and Saint was held at the Supreme Court yesterday, Mr. James Taylor in the chair. The liabilities were set down at £2OG 16s. Bd., and assets, £224 10s. Mr. C. A. Baker was appointed trustee of the estate, Mr. Wallis made an offer of 2s. 64. in the pound cash for the estate within a month, which after some consideration was accepted. A meeting was also held of the creditors of Mr. James Austing, gas-fitter, Wellington. Before the appointment of chairman a slight altercation took place between Mr. Danks and the debtor, in consequence of the former being set down as a debtor to the estate. Mr. Austing explained that the amount stated as owing by Mr. Danks was for work done, while Mr. Danks contended that the work had not been done properly, and he had to get some one e'se to do it over again. Mr. C. A. Baker was appointed chairman, and upon the motion of Mr. Hayes, seconded by Mr. Danks, the meeting was adjourned for a week to enable more creditors to attend. Liabilities are set down at £SB, and assets £2 14s.

A meeting of creditors of Mr. Thomas Hope Murray, Te Ore Ore, was held in the afternoon, Mr. J. Vile in the chair. After some consideration of the affairs of the debtor, the trustee was authorised to take legal advice upon the general aspect of the estate, and report to the creditors at a future meeting.

At a meeting of creditors of Mr. J. G. Kockell, the statement of the debtor showed that assets, including £3OO hook debts, were £4038, and liabilities were £3725, of which £2525 were secured. A question arose as to what the agreement was by which Mr. Kockell had borrowed £9OO from the Loan and Mortgage Company by which to pay an overdraft at the Bank of New Zealand for a similar amount, and it was considered desirable that tho trustee should take evidence upon this point. Mr. Waters was elected trustee. The debtor said he was prepared to offer ss. in the £ at three, six, and nine mouths ; and Mr. Krull, a creditor, thought if Mr. Kockell could get a substantial guarantee for that amount the creditors would no doubt accept it. The meeting adjourned to enable the trustee to examine the accounts.

A meeting of creditors of J. B. Eteveneaux was called for yesterday, but as no quorum was present it stands adjourned till to-day.
