ST. PETER’S CHURCH.

A meeting of parishioners was held in the schoolroom last night, the Ven. Archdeacon Stock presiding. The Chairman explained; that the.meeting had been called for the election of churchwarden and vestrymen, there having been aslight informality in the recent election of those; officers. 1 At the election referred to all those who voted were church members, but they had not signed the necessary declaration. ; The, committee had considered that the election was not void, but.it had been thought best by the; vestiy to have a fresh election. The only flaw, now was that the Act required the election to be held in July, whereas this was August. That was however a minor matter. He thought it would be carrying out the wishes of the parishioners if the same gentlemen were reelected. It was of course quite competent for others to be proposed, but ho hoped this would be done. Mr. Bods-Mabten said he had much pleasure, as on the previous occasion, in proposing! Mr. Samuel Waters as parishioners’ church-; warden. He explained that half of the vestry had been legally elected, but under tho circumstances they had thought it best for all to retire. Mr. Dixon seconded the motion, and bore, testimony to Mr, Waters’ usefulness. The motion was carried ncm dis. Mr, Dixon then proposed that the following gentlemen, being those previously elected, bo vestrymen for the year —Messrs. Butts, Didsbury, Hardy, Holmes, Hunter, Ledger, Marten, Morrah, Plimmer, and Captain Bose; The motion having been seconded by Mr. Waters was carried unanimously. Tho proceedings then terminated with a vote of thanks to the chairman, who, in reply, expressed his pleasure at presiding at a meeting where the business had been got through so quickly.
