CITY COUNCIL.
The adjourned meeting of the City Council was held last evening. Present—His Worship the Mayor, and Councillors Thompson, Young, Allen, Miller, Dixon, Greenfield, Maginnity, Logan, Fisher, and Moss. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and the correspondence received was read. HOSPITAL COMMITTEE. , The following report was brought up ;- “ The committee beg to report that the Hutt County Council are desirous that they should be represented on the committee by three members, and therefore recommend that the constitution of the committee be as under— The whole City Council, and three members of the Hutt County Council, the consulting surgeons, four to form a quorum as at present, and that the committee meet at noon on the same day as the City Council. That order of admission be only valid for six weeks. That the hon. medical staff bo privileged to grant orders of admission. That a voucher for the maintenance of certain children be paid, £72.” After some discussion the report was adopted, the last clausa being referred to the Finance Committee. The report of the Public Works Committee, which appeared in Friday’s issue, was adopted; hut the committee’s recommendation that Emeuy’s and Nicholson’s leases be cancelled, and the ground re-leased for 42 years, was postponed. LEVELS OP OWBN-STEEET. sub- committee’s report in relation to this street was brought up and agreed to. TE ABO RECLAMATION BILL. The Mayor reported that though they were quite prepared to go on with this Bill, it had been necessarily held over till the next session of Parliament. THE OPERA TROUPE. The Mayor said that he had been requested to ask the patronage of the Council to the English Opera Troupe, who had been very unfortunate in this town. The Council agreed to grant the patronage asked for. HARBOR BOARD. The Mayor withdrew the resolution standin" in his name relative to the Council taking action to constitute the City Council a Harbor Board for Port Nicholson. CROSSINGS. Councillor Thompson wished to move, without notice, that certain crossings should be laid down, hut he withdrew his request, at the desire of some members. NEW BUILDING REGULATIONS. The Council resolved itself into a special meeting for the purpose of considering the proposed amendments in the Building Regulations. On the motion of Councillor Miller, the consideration of the amendments was postponed till next meeting. The Council then rose.
