I’OXTON, Saturday, The Stotmbird and Tul are detained by a howling «outh-We«ter. They will leave for Wellington ns soon as the weather moderates, WANGANUI, Saturday. The cutter Annie, from Auckland, is on shore at the Nortii Spit. Wanganui Heads. A heavy sea is running, and she is likely to bo a complete wreck. Her cargo consists of drain pipes. The steamer Wallace for Nelson and the West Const got away late on Saturday night. The barque Glendovej; which has been windbound for so long got under weigh yesterday with the change of wind. She, however, did not got clear of the Heads b’foro the wind again shifted to the south, and she, was compelled to bring up. Tho brig Eobin Hood cleared at the Customs on Saturday for Newcastle, and will sail to-day. The sailing of the steamer Jane Douglas for ‘Kaikonra and Lyttelton has been put off until to-da.v. Tho Government steamer Stella with a defacr uuent of CO of the Armed Constabulary sailed for Ne’w Plymouth yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The steamer Wanganui from the South arrived hero at 0.30 on Saturday morning after a good run of 17 hours. She left Dunedin at midnight on Tuesday, and reached Oamaru at daybreak on M/edneaday; proceeded on same day and called at Tlmaru, but owing to the heavy sea running could do no work; proceeded on and reached Lyttelton at 10 p.m. on Thursday: left for Wellington at 5 p.m. on Friday evening, and arrived as above. She experienced very rough weather on the passage from Lyttelton. She sails again to-day. The steamer Ladybird from the South arrived at the wharf at 2.45 p.m. yesterday. She loft Port Chalmers on the 20th at 2 p.m., and arrived at Lyttelton tho next morning at 6 n.m.r left again at Bp.m., arriving here as above. Prom Port Chalmers to Lyttelton experienced strong easterly gales, from Lyttelton heavy sea and thick weather. She sails for Auckland via tho East Coast to-day. We thank her purser for report and flies. The steamer Talaroa from the Mannkau and Intermediate ports arrived at the wharf at 2 a.m. yesterday morning. She left the Mannkau on Ihel9that7a,m., and arrived at Now Plymouth on the 20lh at 2 a.m.: left again at 3.15 p.m., arriving at Nelson on tho 21st at 7.30 a.m.; left at 9.30 a.m., and arrived at Picton at 0.30 p.m,; left again at 8 p.m;, arriving hero as above. Two more of Captain Williams* vessels arrived yesterday afternoon Com Newcastle, coal laden, viz., tße Edwin Ba-sett and Australind. The former has been ont fifteen days and the latter twelve. Very heavy weather has been mot on the passage down, but Iferlnnatoly no damage was done. 'rhe cutter Lena made a start for Port Undbrwood yesterday forenoon, but only got fairly outside when another southerly buster with heavy showers «et in and she ran back to port again, reaching the Breast work at five o’clock.
