MEETINGS OF CREDITORS.
The creditors to the estate of Mr. Charles Taylor,' contractor, Wellington, met yesterday' Mr. A. Farmer being chairman. The assets were stated to he £1537, and the liabilities £1450. Mr. James Hutchens was appointed trustee.
A meeting of ’creditors of Mr. B. J. Jones, grocer, Wellington, was also held, Mr. George Crawford being in the chair. Mr. Gordon Allan, who appeared for the debtor, stated that the latter was desirous of assigning his estate to Mr. M. L. Marks for the benefit of the creditors, excepting some £25 worth of wearing apparel. After some consideration the meeting resolved not to consent to the offer, and that the debtor should file a declaration of insolvency. The creditors of Mr. Richard Alfred Wakelin, mill sawyer, of Greytown, met for the purpose of considering whether they would consent to a deed of assignment. Mr. Chew occupied the chair. The statement of the debtor showed that there were £ISOO of good assets over and above' the, liabilities. One of the trustees explained that they expected if the debtor were allowed to carry on he would shortly bo able to pay 20s. in the pound. The creditors assented to the deed of assignment, Messrs. Chew and Corp being the assignees. A meeting of the creditors of Mr. Charles Pryke, hotelkeeper, Pahautahui, was called for yesterday, but it was adjourned till noon to-day in consequence of the small attendance. Liabilities are set down at £3189, and assets at £3200, The creditors of Mr. O. Emmett also met to consider the statement of affairs, but nothing definite was arrived at.
