GENTLEMEN, —It becomes my pleasing duty to inform you that I have ,been nominate! as a candidate for the office of Mayor of the City of Wellington ; and I beg respectfully to solicit your votes and support. The Election will take place on TUESDAY, the 27th MAY, and it is my intention to address the Ratepayers in each Ward prior to that date, in order that I may explain my views on the various subjects likely to engage the attention of the City Council. Notice will be published in the newspapers fixing the dates for the Meetings, and stating where they will be held, as soon as the necessary arrangements are made. NOTICE is hereby given that Courts will be held for Revising the List of Voters— For the Electoral District of the Hutt, on FRIDAY, the 23rd MAY, 1879, at eleven o’clock in the forenoon, at the Resident Magistrate’s Court House, Lower Hutt; For the Electoral District of Wairarapa, on TUESDAY, the 27th MAY, 1879, at ten o’clock in the forenoon, at the Resident Magistrate’s Court House, Greytown ; For the Electoral District of Wanganui, on WEDNESDAY, the 4th JUNE, 1879, at ten o'clock in the forenoon, at the Supreme Court House, Wanganui ; For the Electoral District of Rangitikei, on MONDAY, the 2nd JUNE, 1879, at eleven o’clock in the forenoon, at the Resident Magistrate’s Court House, Marten ; For the Electoral District of Manawatu, on FRIDAY, the 30th MAY, 1879, at eleven o'clock in the forenoon, at the Resident Magistrate’s Court House, Foxton ; At which the claims of persons objected to will be determined. The names of persons proved to be dead will be expunged. The names of any persons whose Christian names or place of abode, or the nature of whose qualification shall be wholly omitted, where by law required to be specified on the list, or whose place of abode, or the nature or description of whose qualification is insufficiently described for the purpose of being identified, will be expunged, unless the matter so omitted or insufficiently described be supplied to the satisfaction of the Revising Officer before he shall have completed the revision of such list of voters. TENDERS will be received at this office up to NOON on FRIDAY, 30th INSTANT, for the erection of a bridge at Huriuui Orangi. Plana and specifications may be seen at the above office. Each tender must be accompanied by a cheque for five per cent, on the amount of tender, marked by a banker as good for one month. The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted. The County Council guarantees that suitable timber for constructing the bridge may be obtained by the successful tenderer within two miles of the proposed site, subject to the payment of a royalty of Is. per 100 feet super, for all timber used in the structure, and 6d. per 100 feet for all waste scantlings necessarily cut in excess of actual requirements for bridge construction.
