Wool.—We held a small auction to-day, and sold 215 ba'es at about similar rates to those lately ruling, any alteration in value being In favor of buyers. The bu k of the catalogue consisted of oddments, in inferior condition, for which biddings were not brisk; but tho scoured parcels, especally tho merino'descriptions, wore in fair demand at market rates, one lot of good country scoured realising up to la 4Jd per lb. Kangaroo Skins.—Large, fresh, well-conditioned skins are saleable up to lOd per lb ; inferior and medium lots are scarcely saleable at from 4d to Od We submitted a full catalogue at auction yesterday, the bulk of which was quilted at quotations. We quote :—Jlutlon. superior, up to £29 1?8 Od per- ton ; do, average, from £27 to £29 per ton J beef, from £26 to £2B per ton : mixed, from £2l to £2O per ton ; inferior, from £l7 to £2l per ton. Wheat.—At our sale to-day wo catalogued 1896 bags. Them was a good attendance of buyers, and brisk competition, and we obtained full rates for seed white Tuscan ss. We also sold a line of 1100 bags privately, all sorts (smutty oxce ted), at 4s 7d per bushel, thus making our total sales at suction and by private contract 3'36 bags, at the following prices : Heed, from 6s to 5s 3d ; prime milling, 4s 9d to 4s 10Jd ; medium to good, 4s 3d to 4s 8d ; and inferior, from 3s 71d to 4s per bushel. Oats.—Since our last report we notice a firmer tone in the market, owing to the higher rates ruling for h y and chaff, and we quote :—Hood feed. 3s 6d to 3s 3d: medium to good, 3s 3d to 3s fid; and inferior, to 3s 2|d for best Victorian; and for best New Zealand, 3s 3d to 3s Od; and milling up to 4s per Good country flour Is worth from £lO fis to £lO 7s Cd; and town-milled, £lolos sterling. Bran.— Wo sold this day about 1900 bushels, at Is 3Jd to Is 4id p r bushel. Should the present wet weather continue, the rates now ruling are not Ukely to be maintained. , ... Barley —Owing to the scarcity of this cereal, extreme rates are obtainable. We quote 7s 6d for prime, Cs GJ t ■ 7s medium to good, and 6s for inferior malting ; for good Cape, 3s Od is obtainable.
