THE SHEEP ACT, 1878.

The Government Gazette dated 21st March, 1879, contains the official notification that the sheep districts of Napier, Canterbury, and Otago are clean districts,'and ' that the sheep districts of Auckland, New Plymouth, Wellington, Nelson, • Marlborough, and Westland are infected districts. The same Gazette contains a list of all the sheep inspectors who will act under the new law, and to whom districts and subdivisions are assigned. Certain inaccuracies having appeared in a 1 notice given by one of our evening contemporaries, we extract from the Gazette the'following appointments of inspectors in the Wellington, Napier, and New ' Plymouth sheep districts;; —T. G. Richardson, at Provincial Buildings, Wellington, for, the Wellington . subdivision ; J. ■ Drumpaond, at Masterton, for South Wairarapa 1 ' subdivision ; T. Telford) at Tinui-Whareama, . for ' North. Wairarapa subdivision ; R. K. Simpson at Marton, and. D. Simpson at Foxton, for Rangitikei subdivision ; J. J. Gerse at Wanganui,, and W. McKenzie at Carlisle, Patea, for t Wanganui subdivision ;. W. Hately, at New Plymouth, for County of Taranaki; D. Mu’nrp at Waimate,' Napier, and T. W. White at Napier (under Chief Inspector Pierce Power), for Napier sheep district. Mr. Power has been, removed from the Tapanui subdivision of the Otago sheep district. Mr. E.'E. Hickson has been transferred from Waugauui to Tapanui.
