Arrived: Ship Orthcs, 85 days from London, consigned to tlie New Zealand Shipping Company, with 2400 tons cargo and 28 passengers. Mrs O. M. Nichols, 60 years of ago, died from heart disease on November 36th; no other sickness occurred. The voyage was a Uno weather one.—llinemoa, at 11.20 ».m., with the 'Frisco mail. She sailed (or Dunedin at 12.50,—At 9.30 a.m., Wanaka. from Wellington. The Harbor Board's last addition to the port is a lighthouse on the extreme point of the Eastern breakwater, close to the entrance between the breakwaters. The light is one of Chance Brothers’, Birmingham. It Is a fifth fixed dioptric light, and is fitted with an argand burner. It was lighted for the first time on Thursday night, gas being the power used. It shows red, and is visible several miles outside the Lyttelton Heads. Captain Kennedy, of the Hawoa, saw nothing on his way up from Port Chalmers to-day of the largo ship reported as passing the Otago Heads to the northward yesterday. He reports seeing a brig bound south off the peninsula. BLUFF, Sunday. Arrived: Albion at noon, having left Melbourne at 0.30 p.m. on the 11th. She sails at 4 p.m. tomorrow for Dunedin. Passengers—Saloon: Mrs Balding, Mrs Mantloy, Misses Lading (2), Masters Balding (2), Mewrs Mason, Anson, Gibson (2), Badiug, Mantloy, Brown, and 4 in steerage. PORT CHALMERS, Sunday. Arrived : Wanganui, from Bluff. Sailed: Akbar, for Bluff. The Union Steamship Company have chartered a first-class steamer t) run in conjunction with the Wakatipu via Wellington. She loaves toydnoy tomorrow.

The ships Walpawa and Callpso, for London, aro ready for sea, but cannot get hands. The ship Wellington, from Glasgow, with immigrants, arrived at tho Heads at 4.30 p,m.

The fine ship Hermlono has close on 4000 bales of wool below hatches, also several casks of tallow and bundles of hides. She will probably sail at tho end of the month.

The steamer Lyttelton left early yesterday morning for Blenheim.

The steamer Patea, from Patea, arrived in harbor afc 4.80 on Saturday morning. She left Patea on Thursday at 3 p.m. with a party of 10 excursionists for Nelson, and arrived there at Ga.m, on Friday: left again at 3 p.ra., and arrived hero as above. She re* turned to Patea again early yesterday morning. The steamer Rangatlra, for Napier and Poverty Bay, sailed on Saturday night. The steamer Hawea, from Port Chalmers and Lyttelton. arrived in port yesterday afternoon at 2.30. She loft the former port on Friday at 2.30 p.m., and arrived at Lyttelton at midday on Saturday ; left at 030 the same night, and arrived hero as above. Expcrieuced strong northerly winds for the first part of the passage, and across the Straits had a heavy westerly gale. The topsail schooner Poneke, from Lydia Bay, with a cargo of timber, arrived in port yesterday. She left on Friday, and experienced strong winds, principally from the west.

The fore-and-aft schooner Bay Bawn, from Pclorus Sound, with timber, arrived in harbor yesterday, and hauled alongside the breastwork. The steamer Huia, from Wanganui, arrived in harbor yesterday morning, after a twelve hours" run. The steamer Jano Bouglas, from Foxton, arrived yesterday morning. She returns to the same port again to-day. The Kinearooma will sail this afternoon for Melbourne via the South.

The Kiwi, with wool ami tallow from the East Const, arrived in harbor Into on Saturday night.

The Stormbird. from Wanganui, arrived yesterday morning. She experienced a heavy westerly gale on Saturday night. She returns again to tho same port tonight.

Tire steamer Hinemoa, witli the ’Frisco mail, arrived at tho wharf on Saturday evening. After landing the Wellington portion, she sailed South. From Auckland to Kapler she made tho run in tho short space of 33 hours, inclusive of calling at Poverty Bay, a distance of over 400 miles. Sire left Napier at 10 o'clock on Friday night, and arrived hero at 4.30 on Saturday evening. It will be seen by advertisement in another column that the Union Company liavo laid their fine steamer Albion on to take excursionists to tho Dunedin races. She will leave hero on Sunday tho 23rd instant. The tickets to Lyttelton are £4 4s, to Dunedin £7, and are available until 7th March.

The steamer Taiarou, from lUanukan, Taranaki. Kelson, and Pictou, arrived la harbor early yesterday morning. Tho schooner Ruby, r from Kaikoura, arrived in harbor yesterday afternoon. Tho barque Alert cleared at Now York for Wellington on November 3rd. She brings a cargo of Yankee notions. THE ZAMBOANGA. Another steamer is to bo added to the already fine fleet of vessels belonging to the Union Company. This new vessel la named tho Zamboanga, of 1024 tons burthen, length 233 ft., breadth 20ft. Sin., depth of hold 15ft. 3in. She is 120 horse power, and is classed Al a. Lloyd’s for 100 years. She was built in June, 1874. and is magnificently fitted up, being built expressly for passenger traffic. Her saloon is one of tlie finest of anv steamers in the colonies, light, airy, and elegantly furnished. She is to leave Sydney to-day, and may be expected here at tho end of the week. Tho Zamboanga is Intended for the Sydney trade, which is found to bo rapidly increasing. MARITIME NEWS. Tho Satuvnns, Sclisde. arrived at Queenstown from Lcvuka, reports:—Between 52 and 53 west, and 47 south, passed several icebergs, about 200 ft. high. December 3. Passed a waterlogged vessel, dismasted, supposed her to be barque-rigged, painted black, white houses fore and aft, latitude 45 north, longitude 21 west. Tho Renfrewshire, arrived at Queenstown from Port Chalmers, reports November 12, latitude 10 south, longitude 33 west, picked up a long-boat, marked on stern Plako, of London. Tlie Columbus, Esson, arrived in London from Canterbury, Now Zealand, reports that on November 5, in latitude 21 north, longitude 32 west, she spoke the North America (American), from Now York to Yokohama, which had lost three topgallant masts and suit of sails October 15. In a gale, and gave her a piece «f pump leather ; and on November 6, in latitude 22 north, longitude 33 west, she spoke tho Bianca, of and for Liverpool, from Rangoon, 133 days out, short of bread, a quantity of which was sent on board.
