A Special Meeting of the City Council will be held on THURSDAY, the 9th January, 1879, for the purpose of considering the following By-laws for the regulation of vehicles other than hackney carriages : 1. No person shall, within the City of Wellington, drive any carriage licensed or unlicensed during the hours between sunset and sunrise, unless the same shall have proper and sufficient lamps kept lighted for the whole time during which such carriage shall be so driven ; and for the purpose of this clause the term “ carriageshall every kind of wheeled vehicle drawn by animal power. 2. No person shall permit or suffer any cart, dray, or other wheeled vehicle of any kind then being used to stand or be drawn up for the purpose of standing in any street within the city for any purpose whatsoever otherwise than alongside of and in a position parallel or as nearly as may be parallel with the footway of the street. 3. Any person committing any breach of this By-law shall be guilty of an offence, and shall be liable to a penalty of not more than £5 (five pounds) for every such offence. CHARLES 0.
