BLUFF, Monday. Tlio Albion left Samlrldgo at 11.80 a.m. on tho 18th, ami experienced fine weather on the passigo. She arrived at 10 a.m. today, and sails at 4 p.m. for Dunedin. Passengers—Saloon: Rev Inglls, Mr and Mrs Clayden, Mr and Mrs Edwards, Mr and Mrs Lowe, Jlesßrs liorno, Herbert, and Young; 14 steerage.
The steamer Wanaka left yesterday shortly after midday for the North. The ketch Sea Bird hauled in to tho breastwork yesterday morning, and commonced dischaiglng. Tho Taiaroa did not leave for Picton yesterday, as arrangements had boen made for th 3 Maori to call at Picton on her way South. The new steamer Huia leaves to-day for Wanganui.
The Bingarooma left the wharf shortly after one o'clock yesterday afternoon for Melbourne via the South. ~ , The Storrnbird is duo here this morning from \vanganui. Owing to the strong north-west gale which blew all day yesterday the barque Alexa was not shifted to the wharf. The stoainer Taiaroa leavos to-day for Nelson and Picton. She takes the United Cricket Club to tno former place. The Go-Ahead is advortkod to leave this evomng foi Ca3tlopoint. The barque Alexa was entered at the Customs yesterday. The kotoli Ocean Bird leavos for Westport direct as soon as she has discharged her inward cargo. The new steamer Hula arrived In harbor yesterday forenoon from Auckland. She left the W.iitemata on Wednosday evening last. Owing to a heavy gale and nasty cross sea alio put Into Mahal Bay, where lie remained for thirty huurs. As the new stcamor wa soraing up the harbor, a large number of persons assembled on tho wharf to seo her. She is undoubtedly a very pretty little boat, and should shortly establish herself in tho passenger traffic. Wo last week gave a detailed description of the Huia. We now wish her every success. Tiie following is a summary of tho cargo by tho New Zealand Co.'s chip Waimea, which left Port Chalmers for London last week:—2627 bales wool, £52,705; 70 bales skins, £500; 3105 bags wheat, £3-105; 01 casks tallow, £300; 17 casks skins, £100; 3 botes gold, £16,100; 25 bags bones, £2O; 16 caso3 sundries, £250. Total value, £73,330. Onr Northern iron-workers patronise tho Government workshops at Port Chalmers pretty largely, being induced to do so from the fact that work can be undertaken as cheaply, if not indeed cheaper, than it could out of the colony. At the present time Mr. Dunsmare Is engaged forging four intermediate shafts for tho twin-screw steamer Grafton, which is being compounded by Messrs. llobertson and Co., Wellington. Two of tho shafts are 18ft 4in long, SJin diameter at tho thrush-bearing, and Oin in tho body."
