Athletic Sports HE SECOND MEETING of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club will take place on the BASIN RESERVE on SATURDAY AFTERNOON, DECEMBER 14, commencing at 3 p.m. The race (and only one) set down for competition will he a 20-MII.E WALKING RACE, to bo walked in less than 4 hours. First prize, a Gold Watch, value fifteen guineas : 2nd prize, a Silver Watch, value seven guineas ; 3rd prize, a gold chain, value three guineas. The competition will be open to Members of the Club and their personal friends resident in Wellington, introduced by themselves. The entrance fee will be 10s., which will be returned to each competitor who completes the whole distance within four hours. The committee reserve the right to refuse any entry. Further particulars can be obtained of the Hon. Secretary. The entries, with fees and colors, must lie sent in not later than Tuesday evening, the 3rd December. Fifteen entries must he received or no race. The Secretary and Committee will be in attendance at the Star Hotel on the evening of the 3rd, from 7 to 8 o’clock, when all intending competitors who are not members of the Club must hand- iu their entries in person or the entries.will he refused.
