MR. BARTON AND THE JUDGES.
TO THE EDITOR OP THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir, —What Court of Inquiry could this or any Government constitute to inquire into the truth of the charges made by Mr, Barton on Friday night against the Chief Justice of New Zealand and Mr. Justice Richmond ? In my opinion, it is the Bar of New Zealand and the other Judges of the Supreme Court who should take up the cudgels against this defamer of the Bench. I am surprised that every member, excepting Sir George Grey and his clique, did not leave the House when Mr. Barton “read" his tirade. I say excepting Sir George Grey, because he must thoroughly sympathise with all Mr, Barton said about Mr. Justice Richmond, after his statement in the House that he (Sir George Grey) would be afraid to be tried before that Judge on account of his supposed relationship to the then Premier. —I am, &c., VINDEX.
