RIFLE MATCH.

WANGANUI V. WELLINGTON EIFLE3. This match was to have come off on Saturday last, but owing to heavy rain and gale blowing in Wanganui the Volunteers were prevented from firing. They will fire on Monday morning. The Wellington City Rifles, as decided, commenced firing at 2 o’clock. Captain Crowe, who was in command of the team, opened the ball by making a centre, Sub-Lieu-tenant Mclntosh following up with a bull’seye. The latter shot, who we are glad to see is getting into his old form aguu, made the top score on Saturday with 71 points out of a possible 81 ; W. Ballinger, who is one of the bast shots in the company, coming second with 07 points ; in fact, the shooting of the team on Saturday, taking the weather into consideration, was all that could be desired, the lowest making 60 points, their grand total being 643 ; that is an average of 64 3-10 per man.
