The Victorian loan of £5,000,000 includes £1,000,000 for the purchase of the Hobson Bay railway, £200,000 for Parliamentary buildings and new Daw Courts, £200,000 for State schools, and £2,500,000 for new railways. The last general election cost £9400; census, £12,000.
