The amount of Custom's duties received at this port for the -week ending September 5, 1378, was £7007 7a lOd. ■ t , f , . A fair amount of trade has been doing during the past week in English imported goods, bub owing to the largo stocks on hand, and the large shipments advised as on the way, fales are only effected at a low range of profit. Quotations remain unaltered nominally, but lines of most Imported goods would bo quitted at a largo concession to the buyer. Stocks of teas, sugar, spirits, tobacco, Ac., aro still in excess of our customary demand, but move off satisfactorily, and evidence the growing progress of the colony. Kerosene is scarce, and In demand, at 2s Id for guaranteed quality. / In colonial produce there Is little change. Flour, In demand, at £lolss to £ll 5s per ton, for lines of Canterbury and Oaraaru mills, although small lots have been sold at a slight advance on these rates, and from the large stocks on hand wo see small prospect of improvement. Keg butter continues In little demand, though, owing to the small quantity coming forward, prices aro firm at lOd to lid per lb, if prime cure; cheese, overstocked, at 7d to 8d; bacon and hams in moderate demand at7Jdtoßd per lb; oats, full supplies at 4s Gd per bushel for ordinary feeding quality; good milling oats are worth 4s 9d per bushel; fowls' Iced, 4s to 4s Gd per bushel; milling wheat, 6s 8d to 5s fid; maize, 4s lOd to 5»,

MELBOURNE PRODUCE MARKET. Messrs. J. il. Clcmgh and Co., in their stock and station report, dated Melbourne, August 28, state as follows:—Wool.—The new clip continues to arrive, although only slowly at present. There are, however, now several lots on the way to this market, shearing having become more general in the early districts. We have sold the usual few odd lots at our skin sales, all of which realised full prices, and there is now. the prospect of a good market hero during (ho approaching sales. Sheepskins.—Wo have had about our usual supply forward, and report a firm market. Our sales have been—for green skins, 4s to 7s fid; lambs, 2s to 4s; dry skins, 2s Gd to 5a Gd each; and station skins, 4d to 7d per lb. Hides.—Daring the week wo have disposed of a Large "apply as follows, viz.:-For green ox, 10s to 40s each ; cow, 2id to 2jd; Victorian salted, 3ci to 33d; New Zealand. 4}d to 4£d; calfskins, 2Jd to 3Jd; kip, 3d to 3id per lb. Tallow.—Wo have disposed of our average supply at—for Inferior, £2O to £23; mixed, £2O to £32 ; beef, £3l to £32 ; and mat- . ton, £32 to £33 pee ton. Leather. -Wo have during ,the week done a fair business, and have sold crop at Sd to lOd; kip.
