A CORRECTION.
TO THE EDITOK OB’ THE NEW ZEALAND TIKES. Sin, —I observe an error in your report of my speech last night, which has caused some misunderstanding. Referring to the relative position of the runholder in Canterbury and Otago respectively, you make mo say that the former pays 7-Ad. a sheep, and the latter only What I did say was that whereas the Otago runholder pays 7d. a sheep a year, the Canterbury runholder pays 7Jd., and I arrived at this conclusion thus : The Canterbury runholder pays £1 per annum for every 100 acres, and, going on the moderate estimate of three acres to a sheep, that is equal to 71d. a sheep, —I am, &c., Edwabd Wakefield.
