CITY COUNCIL.
SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the City Council was held in the new Council Hall yesterday afternoon. Present—His Worship the Mayor, .Councillors Diver, Moss. Dixon, Hogan, Maginity, Allen, George, and Macdonald. The Mayor said (previous to the business being commenced) that it was a matter of congratulation that the Council could at last hold theirmeetings under a roof of their own and had a resting place for the soles of their feet. All the departments pertaining to the Corporation were now under one roof. This would no .doubt be found a great comfort and convenience, and materially help the officers of the department in the execution of their labors. He trusted that the consultations of the Council ia the new building would still continue to the advancement of the city. The Mayor then explained that the special meeting bad been called to consider the by-laws in regard to cabs and hackney carriages. The various clauses were then discussed, and several alterations were made of a technical nature.
