SPECIAL TELEGRAM. London, August 15. An Austrian detachment has been destroyed at Linlyngie. A severe epidemic of yellow fever is raging at New Orleans, Grenada, and Memphis. In the match against Lancashire the Australian cricketers have made the following scores in the first innings : —A. Bannerman, run out, 15; O. Bannerman, not out, 55; Horan, not out, 23; sundries, 4. London, undated. The first innings of the Australians closed tor 140. In the Lancashire second innings there are six out for 129, Wicket wet, Bannerman made 58, Murdoch 4, Garrett 0 (all bowled by Mclntyre) ; Gregory 1, Boyle 2, Blackham 4 (bo vied by Barlow) ; Horan, 33 ; Spofforth, 5, caught of Barlow. Lancashire : Hornby, 6, bowled by Spofforth; Kershaw, caught off Garrett, 27 ; Taylor, bowled by Boyle, 17 ; Barlow, eaugbt off Boyle, 40 ; Rowley, not out, 9 ; Appleby, not out, 15; sundries, 3. It Is semi-ofiicially stated hero that a Russian expeditionary force was to have been despatched to Contra! Asia when the relations between England and Russia became critical. This order was subsequently oancelle d. The Austrian forces in Bosnia are still retreating.
