The steamer W.akatipu, from the South, will arrive to The'stcamerKiwl from Napier arrived in harbor last night at 9 o’clock. She left last Tuesday at 5 p m , and arrived at Cashpoint the following day at noon. Left there at 5 the same ovenitg, bnt only got 20 miles south when she encountered a strong head wind ; she ran back to Castlepoint, .and remained there until 1 o’clock yesterday, when she made another start, and arrived here as above. The steamer Luna, with another cargo of Grey River coal, arrived In harbor last night. The schooners Shepherdess, from Picton, and Star of the Sea from Pelorous Sound, arrived here early yesterday morning, and the schooners Esther and Saucy Lass, with' timber from the same place, put in an appearance during-the afternoon. The Manawatu from Wanganui arrived shortly after midday yesterday. She left Wanganui at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Tl»e ketch Hnon Belle from Oamaru arrived here late on Thursday night with a cargo consigned to Mess s. Guthrie and Larnach. The Jane Douglas from Fozfcon arrived here at 2 o’clock yesterday morning. She left Foxtou the day previous at 11 a.m. The Stormbird from Wanganui arrived here at 10 o’clock yesterday morning, and left again for the same place during the evening. Messrs- McMeckan and Backwood’s steamer Ringarooma arrived at the wharf at 7 a.m. yesterday. She reports having left Sandridge Railway Pier at 2.30 p.m. on tho 24th ; cleared the heads at 5.40 p.m-. and passed Swan Island on the 25th. Experienced fresh to strong north-west winds across, and arrived off the Solandars on the 28th. Moved on under easy sfara, and entered Bluff Harbor on the 29th ; left at 4 30 p.m., and arrived at Port Chalmers on the 30th. Left on the 31st, and arrived at Lyttelton on the Ist instant. Left same day for Wellington, arriving hero as above. Experienced moderate south-west winds an'l fine weather along the coast. We hare to thank Mr. ChatQeld, purser, for flies. A Brisbane telegram, dated July 22nd, says:— “The Victoria steamer yesterday picked up off Hlnchenbrook Island the master, mate, and six of the crew of the French barque Success, which was wrecked off Russell Island on the 7th Inst., when Intind from Japan to Melbourne with a cargo of rice. Four lives were lost when tho vessel was wrecked. The survivors had been 13 days in the boat when picked tip." - ■ • ■London telegraphic intelligence says“ The Scottish Admiral (ship) hai been taken into the docks, where .part of her cargo was discharged in order that she might bo surveyed. She was found to have received no injury, and the cargo was loaded again, and she sailed to-day for Brisbane."
