LATEST EUROPEAN NEWS. SPECIAL TELEGRAM. London, July 8. . Ministers have confirmed the conclusion of the treaty with Turkey. Congress continues while Russia retains Batoura, Ardahan, and Kars. The Turks promise reforms. England is to occupy and administer Cyprus forthwith. Sir Garnet Wolseley is appointed Governor. Congress is occupied with the limits of Bulgaria and the frontier of Persia, (REUTER'S SPECIAL TO PRESS AGENCYJ London, July $. Cyprus remains part of Turkey. The surplus revenue will be payable to the Sultan. The British withdraw on the restoration of Batoum, Kars, and Ardahan. The Press approves warmly ; but the Daily News condemns. -
The Channel squadron has gone to Cyprus. Ministers, in reply to a question, said by Russia* retaining Batoum a defensive treaty of alliance has been concluded between England and Turkey. The Porte, cedes Cyprus to England, who will forthwith occupy it. Sir G. .Wolseley will administer the affairs of the island. AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Melbourne, Wednesday. The Claud Hamilton sails next Wednesday, the Tararua to-day, and the Alhambra on Thursday. Sydney, Wednesday. The Tanjtfre, with the Suez mail, has arrived at King George’s Sound, and the Somerset at Co’oktown. It has been decided to hold an International Exhibition next year.
