R. A. Edwin. f The barque Nonpareil, for Lyttelton, left Newcastle on June 12. » The a.s. Tui arrived at 11 o’clock last night. She left Kaikou a yesterday at midday, and experienced fine weather across. The schooner Young Dick hai discharge ! all her cargo but 20 tons of coal. This will be taken out today and ballast taken on board, when she will sail for Lyttelton. By Sydney files by the Ann Melhuish we learn that the barque East Lothian, which left Newcastle for Dunedin on Friday, 7th, was brought into Newcastle on Alonday, 10th. by tug. The barque, according to the Newcastle Daily Pilot , appeared to bo making a considerable amount of water. Messrs. McMeckan and Blackwood's s.s. Albion, from Melbourne, via the West Coast, arrived alongside the wharf last night at 10 o’clock. She left the Sandridge Pier at 3 p.m. on the 13th, and cleared the Heads at 8.45 p.m.; passed the Sisters at 4.45 p m. on the 14th, and experienced strong south and south-east winds, and arrived off Hokitika at 5 30 a.m. on the 19th; left at 4.30 p.m., and arrived at Greymomh at 0.15 p.m ; loft there at 7.39 the same night, and arrived at Westport at 2.45 a.m on the 20th; left again at 4 a.m., and arrived at Nelson at 8.30 the same night; left at 11,45 a m. yesterday, and arrived here as above. We thank the purser, Mr. Gibbons, for report and files. The barque Ann Melhuish, from Newcastle, arrived yesterday forenoon, and beat up the harbor, dropping her anchor off the end of the wharf. She has made the smartest trip of the month, being only nine days at sea. The New Zealand coast was sighted six days after leaving Newcastle. The voyage has been characterised by westerly winds, very heavy seas, and a oarometer down, nearly all the way, as low as 29*1S. She left Newcastle on the 12th instant, with strong westerly winds, which lasted half way across. S W. winds then prevailed until making Cape Farewell on Tuesday, the 18th. Light variable weather and calms set in the next day. Came through the Strait on Thursday, with the wind blowing hard from the west; arrived off the Heads at 6 a.m. yesterday morning, and beat up as above stated. A barque was sighted off Capo Farewell bound west; It wovild most - likely be the Pleiades, for Newcastle- "We thank Captain Johnston for a file of Sydney papers. The steamers Taiaroa, for the North, and the Taranaki, for the douth, left yesterday afternoon. The ciuter Margaret Scolliy hauled into the | breastwork yesterday to discharge her cargo. • The schooner Thames has finished discharging, and wa- yesterday taking in her ballast. The steamer Jane Douglas, for Foxton, left last night. The steamer Taiaroa, from the South, arrived yesWd;iy morning at half-past eight o’clock. She left Lyttelton on Thursday afternoon at 3'45. and experienced fine northerly weather across. The ketch Clematis is to be taken on the Patent Slip for an overhaul before leaving.
The wreck of thos.s. Blackbird, as she Ilea stranded near Port Albert, with everything belonging to her, cither on board or on shore, was pub up for sale by auction by Mr. J. Lukey, at Lloyd’s rooms, on Saturday. There was a moderate attendance, but no one seemed inclined to speculate, and after trying in vain for some time to get a bid, she was passed in at £so.
