THE ADELAIDE-ROAD.
TO THE EDITOII OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sm,—On behalf of draymen I might almost say barrowmen—l feel it right to report the dangerous .state of that part of the Adelaide-road just beyond the tramway depot. The Gas Company recently had a deep tiench dug on the left of the road going out (a third inwards), and this being lightly re-filled (as seen by the quantity of mixed earth remaining out), has with the rain become a bog snare, running a considerable distance close beside the strip of rough metal which occupies about another, third, and forms the middle. The common safety requires to be protected from the carelessness of the work. I myself saw one of Marshall’s wood drays sank up to the axle on Saturday, and being emptied.3i?A dray had to be extricated to-day ; and other accidents separately endured should draw proper attention immediately. Should timber for Kilbirnio or some heavy loading pass that way, the unshored substance of the middle is almost certain to cave in.— I am, &0., Te Ano. Wellington, June 17.
