PALMERSTON NORTH.
(from our own correspondent.) Both the Boyal and Clarendon Hotels have now definitely changed hands, Mr. Batchelor having taken over the former and Mr. Carroll the latter establishment. ■' The weather here lately has been very rainy indeed, but there is now every indication of its clearing up again. ; The tickets for the concert, in aid of the Church of England Sunday-school are being eagerly bought up, and there is likely to be a very large house on Friday next. . The Royal Italian Opera Concert Company were here on Eriday last, and performed 4o a very fair, audience. Their singing was much appreciated. . ■ The Star Dramatic Company advertised a performance here for Thursday last, but failedto put in an appearance. Mr. Greig, the late manager of the Bank of Australasia here, has been temporarily appointed to Waverlcy. ,
Good houses in this town are much in request just now, in spite of thenuinbers which are being built. There were three applications for one which became vacant lately.
