Tho action brought by Mr. J. A. Cantor, as administrator of tho estate of one Hugh McLean Young, to recover from the Mutual Assurance Company of Victoria a sum of £SOO on a policy of his assurance, was concluded yesterday (says the Aryus of March 14) in the Supremo Court, before Mr. Justice Barry aud a special jury of six. Young was a clerk in tho office of Messrs. McLean Brothers and Bigg for several years. In April, 1877, Young made a proposal to tho company to insure his life for £SOO, and on the 10th May a policy was issued to him. On the afternoon of tho Ist Juno, Young sent another clerk, named Arhot, with a note to Mr. Green, an assistant at tho chemist’s shop of Mr. Morrison, Bourko - street. In this note he asked for two ounces of laudanum for a friend in the country, and requested that ho might be advised how to send it up.
