RIFLE MATCH.

WELLINGTON CADETS V. NELSON CADETS. The Wellington Cadets fired off the third of their series of matches, under command of Captain W. H. Holmes, yesterday morning, at their butts in Polhill Gully. The conditions were 100, 200, and 300yds.; five shots at each range; any position ;4 x 6 targets. Shooting was commenced at 8 o’clock, under very favorable circumstances, as there was scarcely any wind. At the last range, however, a stiff breeze sprang up from the S.E., which rendered good shooting very difficult. The Nelson lads fired last Saturday, and made 291 points. The Wellington team made the very respectable score of 42G, beating Nelson by 135 points. The highest scorer was Sub-Lieutenant Taylor (A. G.), with 52 points, while the top scorer for Nelson wasionly 37. Annexed are the scores:—
