RIFLE FIRING.

The second of three competitions for the Snider rifle and other prizes presented to the City Rifles came off on Saturday last in the presence of a number of visitors, who seemed to take a great delight in the goood shooting made by the competitors. On the whole the shooting was very good, the increase of wind and other causes at the 500 yards making it difficult for the men to make first-class scores; the average, however, was above the usual standard, it being three points over centres for each man. The following are the scores made by each competitor, Captain Crowe, under whose command the men were, making the fine score of 69, beating Private Croucher and Sergeant Bowie on the tie :
