Grafton is expected here this afternoon from Lyttelton, having left there at 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon. Tho ketch Reliance and schooner Hannah Barratt, from Pelorus Sound, timber laden, arrived here yestopsail schooner Martha Reid arrived here from Oamaru with a full cargo of produce yesterday afternoon, after a six days’ passage up. Experienced bead winds mostly throughout the trip. large piece of the sunken hu.k Eli Whitney, measuring about twenty feet square, was raised to the surface yesterday, it is considered that in a short lime the whole of the hulk will be removed. Plimmer’s wharf has recently been undergoing several improvements, and it is now in a good sound condition. It has been planked nearly all over, the end extended several yards, and a number of posts driven on either side, so that now three vessels can He alongside the wharf in perfect safety. The schooner Aurora sailed for Picton yesterday, to load timber for South. The Taranaki from North, and Taiaroa from South, are expected to arrive here to-day. Tho former will go South at 3 p.m., and the latter North at 6 p.ra., this afternoon. The ketch Elizabeth, with a cargo of timber from Picton. arrived hers yesterday. _ The p.s. Manawatu sailed for Wanganui with a full cargo at 11.45 a,m yesterday. The Government steamer Hinemoa sailed for the Manukau last evening. From there she will proceed direct to the Bluff for Sir John Goode, who is expected to arrive by tbe Arawata on Sunday next. The Hinemoa will, we understand, convey him over the colony during his tour of inspection of our harbors. •The a.s. Taupo left for Auckland, via East Coast porta, at noon yesterday.
