BETHUNE AND HUNTER’S LAND SALE.
Mr. Hunter commenced > his sale of land yesterday by stating that he had often appeared before them on the-stage of the Odd Bellows’ Hall, but that that, was the first time he had- appeared there in Ids professional position as ah auctioneer, and he would take the opportunity-of .informing his friends that although he had removed to his old premises at the head of the bay they were not to infer that he was retiring fnm business. He hoped to frequently meet them in his capacity of a land agent engaged in disposing of properties by-public auction.He thanked Mr. Barnett for allowing him the use of -., the hail for > sales, remarking that it was well adapted for such a purpose. There was a large attendance of buyers. The bidding for the first few tots was of a very spirited character, and • the prices realised, as will be seen from the subjoined list, must have been highly satisfactory to Mr. Hunter’s clients ; Town acre No. 176, "Wellington, Dixon-street, with dwelling-house and other' improvements, in the occupation of Mr. Samuel Parkes.—£34oo. Section No. 51, Porirua-road, 112 acres.— £ll per acre. Section No. 10, Makara, 105 acres.—£2 per acre. Section No. 42, Opaki Block, 389 acres, situated about four miles from Masterton.—-£1 per acre. Part of sections Nos. 61 and 62, in the district of Motueka, Nelson, containing 47 acres.—£l 10s. per acre. Several other properties were offered, but as the reserves were not reached most of them were withdrawn.
