THE INDIAN FAMINE BELIEF FUND.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE HEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir, —The Indian Famine Fund having been closed, I send yon a statement of receipts and expenditure, and shall be glad if you Will publish it for the information of subscribers. I would take this opportunity, on behalf of the committee, of thanking the people of Wellington for coming forward so liberally in this matter. The thanks of the subscribers are due to the Government, the Bank of New Zealand, and the Union Bank of Australia, as, but for their liberality, the cost of remitting the money would have been very considerable; and also to the directors of the New Zealand Times Newspaper Company, who presented to the fund the cost of advertising the list of subscribers.—l am, &c., Chas. P. Powi.es, Secretary to the Committee. Wellington, 24th January, 1878.
