ST. GEORGE’S HALL.

A rare treat to the lovers of really artistic instrumental music is announced for this evening at the above place of amusement, when Herr Schott, R.A.M.L., the celebrated oboeist, cor-anglaiseist, pianist, and liguridzolosophoneist, will make his appearance in this city. This gentleman is a fellow pupil of Madame Arabella Goddard and Mr. John Hill (of De Murska celebrity). As a performer upon the oboe Herr Schott is without a rival in the colonies. The Australasian thus speaks of him:—“The oboe and oor-anglaise were the most complete and enjoyable performances we have had the pleasure of listening to, and showed the wonderful command the soloist has over that beautiful but difficult instrument”; while the Melbourne Ai-gus and other Australian journals also speak in very flatteringterms of Herr Schott. Mr. Cary, the manager, has made arrangements for a short season with the Lydia Howards Troupe, who, with the present company, will perform the operatic burlesque of “ Lucia di Lammermoor. This will be preceded by an operetta, entitled “ A Puff of Smoke,” in which Sir. O. Sidney—said to be a fine baritone singer—will appear for the first time in Wellington. Seats may be reserved at Jackson’s, and as already there is a demand for tickets we expect to see the hall crowded to its utmost capacity.
