The Roumanian loss in the Gravitza engagement was 900. Sulieman Pasha's main body is falling back on Rasgrad. The Russians attacking Karahassar and Rustchuk were repulsed, and compelled to fall back on their intrenchments at Pyrgos. The Russians attacked the Turkish right at Kadikoi, and also their left, but after a partial success were defeated and had to fall back. The Turks are vigorously bombarding the Russian positions at the Schipka Pass. The Russian batteries have been silenced. A Russian official report states that after ten hours' fighting on the 24th, General Gourka captured, with heavy loss, a redoubt on the Sophia-road, with four guns. Many officers, 3000 infantry, and a regiment of cavalry were taken prisoners. The St. Petersburg journals state that negotiations for the capitulation of Kars have been commenced. A Turkish official despatch confirms the report of the junction of Ismail Pasha and Mukhtar Pasha, who are now occupying a strong position at Koprikoi. In the colliery explosion at the Blantyre pit 219 perished.
