THE WATER SUPPLY.

TO THE EDITOR OP THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir, —May I request that you will be so good as to insert the following in your next issue, in the hope and expectation that it may meet the eye of some one who has the power and the will to remedy the grievance I complain of. I have no water either to drink or to cook with, and my family is large ; nor have I had any water for the last three weeks except such as I have had conveyed from another source than the Corporation reservoir, one evening last week excepted. I had no water for over five weeks about last Christmas, and I have frequently complained to a City Councillor, now no longer in office, but without effect. I also mentioned the matter when I paid my water rates last. I have always paid my rates within the proper time ; in fact there is a reminder on the notice paper telling me that if I should neglect to do so, in fourteen days’ time I will be liable to get one of a more urgent nature. I don’t complain of this. On the contrary, it is, I suppose, the correct thing to be done. I only complain that I get no water, although I am charged for it; and if one of my children, “and they are legion,” should get ill, I could not give it a warm bath to save its life. As for fire, should such an event take place, “which may the gods avert,” I see no way of putting it out. We would, I fear, as they say in colonial phrase, “ have to let it rip.”—l am, &0., A Ratepayer. Lewis Yille Terrace, i Tiuakorx-road, October 29.
