METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS WELLINGTON, For September, 1877.

Notb.—On Ist cold wet day, wind S.W. with hail and slight thunder, very s'ormy at night, continued stormy from same quarter on 2nd; fine until 10th, when it rained, and blew cold from S.E. and S.W., -OOin. rain recorded on 11th, the max. for month ; stormy on 13th from N.W., increas : ng to a gale at night, and also stormy and wet on morning of 14th, N.W.; threatening on 16th during day, and at 7 p.m. sudden change from N."W. to S.W., with violent squalls of rain and hail, which abated during nUht; fine for remainder of month, though weather dark and threatening at times to S.E., but clearing off without rain : on night of 28th strong N.W. wind ; snow on hills across harbor on 11th; on the whole fine weather, with small rain fall for time of year. The maximum temperature in shade 66'0, and minimum 35 - 5. Earthquakes felt on 15t'i between 8 and 9 a.m., slight; on 22nd at 4.40 p.m. two smart shocks with rumbling noise, and on 29th at 1.50 a.m. a slight movement. R. B. Gork.
