Arrivkd: Albion, from Melbourne. She left Melbourne on the 2nd inst., and experienced light easterly winds, with fine, weather, throughout. Passengers for Wellington : Miss Allan, Mr. and Mrs. Sidey, Mrs. Demet and child, Messrs. Gibbs, Ziman. Hall, Ludlaw, Grant, and 190 tons cargo.

. The time-ball may be used to-day for rating chronometers. A chronometer true on Greenwich time would show 12h. 30rain. when the ball drops. Any difference is error, plus or minus, of the chronometer. The brigantine Hannah Broomfield will go on Messrs. Coffey and Dixon’s slip during the present week to receive a thorough overhaul. The departure of the Luna for the West Coast has been postponed till this afternoon. The schooner Kaiuma is taking in timber at the wharf for Timaru.

Thu Wakatipu. from the South, will be in port this morning. She will sa I during the day for Sydney. The departure of the Wanaka for the East Coast and Auckland has been altered from 11 a.ra. to 9a.m. to-day. The Stormbird and St Kilda, for ’Wanganui, sailed yesterday afternoon, will full cargoes. The brigantine Enterprise, ketch Good Templar, and schoonerT, B. Taylor left Lyttelton on Saturday, and carried a fresh southerly wind up, making this port yesterday. The two former arrived in the forenoon.* and the latter in the afternoon. .

The steamers Tui and Jane Douglas, for Foxton, got away between 5 and 0 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The Jane Douglas will also go to Rangitikei. The s.s. Napier left Blenheim at G. 30 a.m. yesterday, and arrived here at 11.45 p.m. same day. She will sail again for Blenheim to-day. The k.s. Hswca will arrive here to-day about noon from Auckland, via the Eas- Coast, with the English mail on board. She will go South in the af ernoon.
