FOOTBALL MATCH.
About 1500 people were present at the football match at Auckland. The weather cleared up, and the game wari very well played throughout, the teams being evenly matched. Several good scrimmages and capital kicks were lieu.*-. Auckland showing to the best adv urt-age iu kicking, and Dunediri in scrimmages! Itnse, Dixon, and Cargill!were most active fo- Dunedin, and Wood, Nolan, and Robins., .or Auckland. In the first round Dunedin were forced down, but no score;was made. In bout two Dunedin nearly made a touch-down, ■
Auckland. saved it/ Tu the third tout Deedin'got the best of a ten minutes’ scrimmage, but without improving their advantage ; and iq the fourth/hout Auckland were twine force ! down, but rallied, and: pressed their opponents hard. The game ended in a draw,'neither side scoring. There seemed to be h vrilly auyr.oi to choose betvyeen the teams. The .‘uuudm men :have been successful in Xel-ou aid Christrihurch, and to-day will try their fortuuc with the men of . Wellington. ,
