(PER PRESS AGENCY.) Grahamstown, Saturday. There is great excitement over Alburnia scrip. During the last few days it advanced in price from 70s. to 170 s. A new organ is being erected for St. George’s Church, presented by Mr. Williamson, churchwarden. It cost £4OO, and was built by Mr. Hewlett, Wangarei. The Ingersoll rock-drill has been started at the Moanataiara tunnel. New Plymouth, Saturday. - Mr. W. Halse, writing to the Herald re the Queen Bee, suggests that the Government should not overlook the natives at Paua Bay in the reward proposed to be voted by Parliament. Wanganui, Saturday. The Wanganui Art and Industrial Exhibition was opened to-day by the Mayor, who made a lengthy speech. The exhibition is a wonderful success both as regards the number and quality of the exhibits. An original Reubens and an original Sir David Wilkie are much admired in the art section. The scientific section is well filled. The industrial section comprises a fair sample of the industries of the district. The Exhibition will be open all next week. It is expected great crowds of country people will flock in to see this great collection. The inquiry into the wreck of the Eobina Dunlop concluded this day. The evidence has been sent on to Wellington. No decision has been given by the Collector of Customs, who held the inquiry. A public meeting last night passed a series of resolutions condemning the Native Lands Court Bill, and approving of the amendment moved by Mr. Ballance. One resolution urged upon Government the expediency of throwing open blocks of native land, when a title is acquired, for the settlement of small farmers, on easy terms. Dunedin, Saturday. Two illicit stills have been found in working order at Opoho, two miles from Dunedin. They were owned by Alexander Wylee, an ex-policeman.
