- "Wo note no change In quotations of Imports during the past week; a moderate amount of business has been done, but complaints continue rife of heavy stocks and low quotations. At the several auction sales held during the week, unsatisfactory prices were obtained, both for imported goods and colonial produce. Mr. G. Thomas sold a quantity of goods in bond on the 14th instant, being the balance of stock In James O'Shea's eßtate, at the following rates:— Jgleaea sherry, in quarters, at 4s 6d to 5s Cd per gallon; Spanish-red wine, 2s per gallon; Australian wine, 4s per gallon; 23 cases sparkling moselle, at 30s; 20 do ■ Wachter's champagne, 62* Cd per dozen; 158 cases Hennessey's brandy, 31s; 30cases 3 star do, 41s; 7 qreasks do. 6s 2d per gallon; 89 cases Denis Monnio brandy. 2*s; H«ncke's stone gin, 12s; 5 hf-chests tea, la lOd per lb; 5 do, Is; 50 boxes do, ls;i 4 hhds Tounger's ale, £5 16s per hhd; 5 tons light brewers' -crystals, £32 10a per ton. Mr. K. J. Duncan on the ■l4th sold 10 cases haws andbacon, 7d to Od per lb. In colonial produce prices continue low; bacon and haraß are difficult to move, in any other than retail lots, at 7d to 8d per lb, for best brands of Canterbury cure; cheese in fair supply at 8d per lb; butter in kegs ia a perfect drag, and quantities—as was the case last season—are thrown into the market at nominal rates, •varying from 4d to Cd; new prime cure is worth 85<1 to 9d per lb, the demand being restricted to the supply of the retail trade. Flour has been received In full quantities from Southern ports, and stocks are ample but difficult to move, in any other than retail lines; holders quote £lB to £lB 10s per ton, for best; Oamaru and Canterbury mills,'hot prices are far from being well sustained. .Oats continue steady at4s to 4s 3d -per bushel for prime milling sorts; but there is a largo mum tity of inferior feeding sort in stock, which tends to lessen quotations. Fowls'feed scarce, and worth An fld to Gs. Maize In moderate supply at 4s 3d to 4s <kl.
