She made the land on Tuesday, and passed the Queen Bee on Cape Farewell Spit. She looked to he in good condition. . .. The Union Company's s.s. Rotorua arrived in harbor yesterday from Sydney via'Auckland and Napier. She left Sydney on the oth inst., »nd cleared the Heads ■at 3.30 p.m. ESperienced stroDg N.W. winds, working round to S.W., till arrival at Auckland on the 14th, after a smart run of 4 days 17 hours. Discharged 200 tons cargo, and sailed same day at 9.20 p.m.; Teached Hawke's Bay at 9 a.m.. on the 16th, and was wway again at 11 30a.m., arriving in port at 10.30 a.m. yesterday. Experienced light winds and fine weather along tlie coast to Cape Palliser, thence till arrival -strong S.E. wind with rain. '1 heßotorua sailed for Xyttelton and Port Chalmers at 5.30 p.m. yesterday. It is stated that the N.Z.S.S. Company have purchased the steamer Jane Douglas, which is now employed in the East Coast trade. She is a sister boat to the handy little steamer Tui, and her new owners intend placing her in the trade between this port and Eangitikei and Foxton, for which she is most admir- -. • ably suited. Hie Union Company s.s. Taupo sailed for Auckland via Napier at 12.15 p.m. yesterday. The s.s. Tui, from Foxton, will be in port this morning. She is expected to leave again in the afternoon lor the same port. ■ The p.s. Manawatu sailed for Wanganui at 10 o'clock last night. The departure of the p.s. Lyttelton for Blenheim has been postponed till this afternoon. The p.s. Lima i 3 expected to sail for the West Coast to-day. The steamer Charles Edward, on a voyage from Nelson to the West Coast, broke down when between West Wanganui and Curious Head| on Tuesday night last. All sail was set, and next afternoon she arrived flff Nelson, and was towed into that port by the steam launch of H.M.3. Sappho. Messrs. McMeckan, Blackwood, and Co.'s s.s. Albion, Captain Tozer, arrived in harbor yesterday ■ evening from Melbourne via West Coast ports. She left Sandridge at 7.15 p.m. on the Bth instant, cleared the Heads at 10.20 p.m., and passed Kent Group at noon on the 9th. Experienced moderate westerly -winds, with frequent squalls of rain, until arrival off Eokitikft at 7 a.m. on the 14th. As there was a heavy Sea on the bar the Albion was unable to be tendered, and she came* on to Nelson, arriving there at noon on the 10th. When'passing Cape Farewell Spit at 7.30 ~ same morning saw the wreck of the Queen Bee, and of course, not having previously heard of it, the steamer was kept close in for the purpose of ascertaining some information regarding her. The sails, which were unbent at the time she was abandoned, •were still flying loose, and not a soul could be seen near her. The weather at the time was clear, and not a single craft could be discovered in the vicinity of the wreck. 'The Albion left Nelson at 2 a.m. yesterday, and rounded Stephen Island at 7 a.m., -where she was muzzled with a heavy S.E. gale, with "high head sea and thick weather, and against these she had to contend till she made the Heads yesterday evening. She got alongside the wharf at 0.30 p.m. • We thank Mr. H. A. Gibbons, purser, for prompt , delivery of our files and report. The Albion has 90 tons of cargo for this port. She will leave here for Hobarton and Melbourne, via the South, this afterjioou.
