She is much strained throughout, the deck, deck beams, and fastenings ■being started, and thirty sheets copper torn off. The bottom is indented, showing that damage has been; inflicted on her Tenders are called for the : accessary repairs. . ~ - Kaipara Shipping.—Sailed ■■: Marmion, for Wellington, -with 24,000 ft. timber; Enterprise, for Lyttelton, -with 25,000 ft. Telegrams indicating a probable fall of the glass and approach of easterly winds were sent to Hokianga, JJnssell, and Tanranga on Thursday afternoon, and by yesterday morning a fresh gale bad set in at Russell, which increased during the day. Warnings for easterly gales were telegraphed yesterday from Lyttel-; ton northward. The schooner. Richard and Mary arrived in harbor yesterday afternoon from Havelock. The schooner Excelsior,' 92: tons register, ha 3 been sold to Messrs. Webb Bros, of Pelorus Sound for ■£6oo. She will be placed'in the timbertrade between -lere and the Sound. At present she is loading with •-railway iron from the City of Madras, -for Wanganni, ,amd from the latter port she will go to the Sound to load for here. Captain Hunt, who was master of the . ietch Thames, takes her. • ■ ■ ■ ' Captain Rose, agent for the N.Z.S Co. in this port, has received a telegram from Christchurch stating .that the ship Opawa has arrived at London from Lyttelton after a splendid run of 72 days. The performance of all the company's vessels that have gone Home this season proves that they have no superiors in point of sailing trading to this colony. A telegram received by the Harbor Master, Captain Hollidav, from Hokitika states that the schooner Spray sailed from that, port for Wellington, yesterday. The s.s. Kiwi, with a full cargo for Castlepoint and ITapier, sailed from this port yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock. The s.s. Arawata sailed for Melbourne via the South at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. ~■„■■ , The barque Ocean Chief sailed down to the outer anchorage yesterday afternoon, to await a favorable breeze to sail for Lyttelton.. The s.s. Napier left for Foxton yesterday evening at 6 o'clock. This is her last trip for Messrs. W. and G. Turnbull and Co., as her new owners, Messrs. Fell Bres., will take her over on her return to this port. The brig Star of the Mersey was towed round to the Patent Slip by the s.s. Moa on Thursday night for the purpose principally of ascertaining whether, she touched on the reef of rocks on to which sho was dragging off Forsyth Island on the day of her aban-j donment. : , J The p.s. Luna has called into Nelson on her way ■up from Greymouth, for the purpose of towing over the brig Albion, which was purchased the other day for this port by the Brunner Coal Company. The 5.3. Rotorua, from "Lyttelton and Port Chalmers, will arrive here to-morrow morning. She will sail for Sydney, via Napier and Auckland, at noon .same day, taking with her the outward San Francisco mail.
The s.s. Stormbird, Captain Doile, after a good run •down from Napier, arrived at the wharf at 5 p.m. yesterday. She left Napier at 4.30 on Thursday even tag, with a light head wind, rounded the Kidnappers at 6.30, passed Cape Tumagain at 1 a.m., Castlepoint at 5.30, and Capo Palliser at 1 p.m., arriving as srfcove. Beports sighting the barque Falcon, from Napier, bound to Newcastle. The Stormbird leaves again for Napier on Monday. -. :
