The Melbourne Argus, In reference to the payment of members of Parliament, says:— “ There is good reason to believe that Ministers will adopt a new form of procedure, and that they will propose to ensure the payment of hon. gentlemen by putting the necessary sum on the estimates. The members of the new Government have for the most part objected to the Legislative Council receiving recompense, and as regards the payment of the Legislative Assembly, it is contended that as the Council has adopted the principle twice, there is no longer any constitutional reason why a Bill should be sent to it. Of course the real reason of the change is, that a Bill to provide for the payment of members of the Assembly alone would have no prospect of passing the Council, and Ministers would then be in a worse position in placing the sum upon the estimates than they are now.” Honest Testimonials from well-known Colonists are better far than' all the fulsome and absurd puffing so generally adopted, and so repugnant to the minds of sensible and thinking people. The following testimonials are given by way of example of the very many received by the proprietor of GHOI/LAH'S GREAT INDIAN CURES from all parts of New Zealand, and will satisfy the discerning inhabitants of "Wellington of the extraordinary curative powers of these valuable INDIAN MEDICINES., Sold by all chemists and respectable medicine vendors throught out New Zealand Dunedin, 31st August. 1876Sir,—Having taken your Ghollah’s Rheumatic Mixture for some considerable time, and having been completely cured by its use of the very severe rheumatic gout from which I had suffered most severely for the last ten years, I can bear testimony to its extraordinary curative powers. lam now free from all pain, and well in my health, and have the free use of my hands and feet, which I had not previous to taking your medicine. I think it right to state, for the benefit of others suffering the tortures that I endured for the period above stated, that I attribute my restoration to health and freedom from pain entirely to the use of your invaluable medicine. I can strongly recommend it to those suffering from rheumatism or gout. (Signed) John Griffbn, J.P." church, 21st April, 1877. The Proprietor of Ghollah’s Great Indian Cures; Sir,—l have much pleasure in stating that I derived so great a benefit by the use of your Gout Mixtuie that I feel it my duty to add my testimonial to the many already published! I had been suffering from gout in my feet and hands for about sixteen years : but by taking_ two bottles of your Gout Mixture, I have lost all pain or trace of the gouty symptoms. My appetite is good and my general health much improved. I can recommend your Indian Medicines strongly to others.—(Signed) Geokoe Lummis,” —[AnvT.]
