A DISCLAIMER.
TO THE EDITOR OF'THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES Sir, —I do not know why, in your recent article on the Lunatic Asylum, yon should select me from the visitors of that institution as tlie fitting object of a sneer. I have endeavored in my individual capacity to discharge the trust imposed on me conscimtioualy and without fear or favor. There are three other Visitors, namely, Messrs. J. C. (Jiawford, Walter Johnston, and E. Pearce ; and about three years ago, soon after our appointment, we jointly recommended, as essential to the proper management of the Lunatic Asylum, the appointment of some medical man experienced in the charge of lunatics, and who should be required to reside at and be responsible for the institution.—l am, &c., W. Gisborne.
