NOTICES OF MOTION AT THE CITY COUNCIL.
The following notices of motion have been given for next meeting of the City Council : His AVorship the Mayor,—That the grant voted by the Council for the improvement of the Basin Reserve shall be expended by the Council under the superintendence of the City Surveyor. ■ His Worship the Mayor,—That a map of the city, showing all the streets and private streets, with the levels, thereof, as the same are intended to he permanently constructed in terms of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1876, shall be prepared. Councillor George,—That as from the letter of the Colonial Secretary, dated IGth .Tune, it is understood that some objection exists to extending the city boundaries to include the Thorndon foreshore, the Council request the General Government to proclaim the extension of the boundaries as required, excluding the Thorndon reclamation.
Councillor Cleland, —That in the opinion of this Council the time has arrived when the: office of Town Clerk should be filled by a solicitor.
