Government Notices N OTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT PORTION OP ROAD BETWEEN MASTERTON AND OPAKI. NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1576, to execute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of a portion of a road lying between Masterton and Opald, in the County of Wairarapa West, and for the purposes of such public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to he taken ; and notice is further given that the plans of the said portion of a road, and of the lands so required to he taken are deposited in the Public Works Office, Masterton, and are there open for inspection. And notice Is hereby given that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work, or by the taking of the said lands, shall, if they have any well grounded objections to the execution of the said public work, or to tile taking of such lauds, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington. SCHEDULE. Portion of a road, Masterton to Opald. Commencing at a point about 51 miles, more or less, south of Mauriceville, in the Provincial District of Wellington (as described in a proclamation dated Gth January, 1875, and published in a iVcw Zealand Gazette of 7th January, 1875); thence in a southwesterly direction about 35 chains ; thence in a generally south-easterly direction about 92 chains; thence in a southerly and easterly direction about 92 chains ; thence in a southerly direction about 26 chains ; thence in a south-easterly direction about 19 chains ; thence in a general south-easterly direction about 37 chains until it reaches the Main-road from Masterton at a point in section No. 56 distant about 40'20 chains from the northwestern boundary line of section No. 7 ; the total length of the above described portion of a road being 3§ miles, or thereabouts, and the breadth thereof one chain, except where otherwise shown on the plan ; the said road being delineated in red upon the said plan, which is marked for reference P.W.D. 5451. WRITTEN TENDERS will be received at this office up to NOON on WEDNESDAY, the 20th JUNE, 1877, for the above contract. They must be addressed to the Hon. the Minister for Public Works, Wellington, and marked outside “ Tender for Wanganui Town Contract, Formation and Permanent Way.” Plans and specifications may he seen at the Public Works Offices, Auckland, Wanganui, Palmerston North, and Wellington. Telegraphic tenders, similarly addressed and marked, will be received if presented at any Telegraph Office by noon of the same date, provided that written tenders in due form are lodged at a District or Resident Engineer's Office by the same hour, and accompanied by a cheque on some bank in the town where the tender is lodged ; such cheque to he specially marked by a banker as good for twenty-one days, and to be in favor of the ReceiverGeneral's Deposit Account only, and not to bearer or order. WRITTEN TENDERS will be received at the office up to NOON on WEDNESDAY, the 20th JUNE, 1877, for the supply and delivery of 28,000 SLEEPERS, to be delivered on the Wanganui wharf, for the PateaManawatu Railway. They must be addressed to the Hon. the Minister for Public Works, and marked outside “ Tender for Sleepers, Patea-Manawau Railway.” Specifications may be seen at the Public Works Offices, Foxton, Auckland, and Wellington. Telegraphic tenders, similarly addressed and marked, will be received if presented at any Telegraph Office by NOON of the same date, provided that written tenders in due form are lodged at a District or Resident Engineer's Office by the same hour, and accompanied by a cheque on some bank in the town where the tender is lodged; such cheque to be specially marked by a banker as good for one month, and to be in favor of the Receiver-General’s Deposit Account only, and not to bearer or order. Telegraphic tenders, similarly addressed and marked, will be received if presented at any Telegraph Office by NOON of the same date, provided that written tenders in due form are lodged at a District or Resident Engineer’s Office by the some hour, and accompanied by a cheque ou some bank in the ton n where the tender is lodged ; such cheque to be specially marked by a banker as good for twenty-one days, and to be in favor of the ReceiverGeneral’s Deposit Account only, and not to bearer or order.
