The Customs duties received at this port for the week ending April 12, were as under :
In the import trade there is little animation, stocks being heavy, and sales to any extent beyond ordinary wants being infrequent. Still there is no reason to Complain, as orders from the country and outports come in freely. There is no change in quotations from our last report of sufficient importance to require special comment. Becent auction sales show a disinclination on the part of buyers to speculate at the required price, even at a concession on the reserved market value; and quotations on the whole may be said to be in favor of the purchaser. Colonial produce is dull. Keg butter meets with ©nly moderate inquiry at lid to 12d per lb, for prime, Ihe demand being mainly for local consumption. continues fully stocked, and moves off slowly &X to B£d per lb, for Canterbury—lOd to lid for Pozirna make. Hams and bacon are in improved demand, and stocks being rather lighter, prices are firm at lOd to lid per lb. Flour is easier, and holders are now asking £l6 to £ls 10s per ton, for Canterbury vand Oamaru sorts, in bakers* lots ; bags, £IC. Stocks light. Oats—Prime milling oats are selling at 3s 2d, ordinary feed being 3s per bushel. Fowls’ feed plentiful at 2s 9d to 4s. Maize very scarce at 5s Cd. Potatoes —No stocks, and wanted at 80s to 90s per ton. BY TELEGRAPH. AUCKLAND, Friday. Mr. Buckland quotes fat cattle at from 23s to 27s fid ; fat sheep, 2d to 2jd. DUNEDIN, Friday. There has been no material change in the sharemarket. Wheat, 4s lOd to 5s Id per bushel; medium, 4a Sd to 4s (5d ; oats, 2s 2d to 2s Sd ; and barley 4s • to 4s Cd per bushel. CHiUSTCHUECa, Friday. Buyers’ produce quotations at Christchurch;—Milling wheat, 4s Cd to 5s per bushel; oats, 2s to 2s 2d ; •barley, 4s Cd ; flour, £l4 10s to £ls 10a per ton; bran, £4; sharps, £5 ; cheese, Cd per lb ; and butter, lOd to 1* per lb.
OAMARU, Friday. During the past week the demand for wheat has been easier, quotations ranging from 4s to 4s fill per bushel, the latter being top price for prime, with very little doing. Oats are quoted at 2s to 2s 4d ; barley, best malting, 3s 6d nominal—no transactions reported. The prices for breadstuff's f.o.b. are as follows:—Flour, £l3 per ton; oatmeal, £l3 10$; pollard, £5 10 ; and bran £4.
