ANNIVERSARY SERVICES.
The anniversary services in connection with the Sunday-school attached to Sydney-street Church took place yesterday. The Rev. Mr. Jones preached in the morning and the Rev. Mr, Redstone in the evening. The children attending the school were accommodated with a platform in front of the pulpit, an 1 during service rendered a number of appropriate hymns in a very pleasing manner. In the afternoon the children assembled in' the church, and were addressed by the Rev. Mr. Nixon. The collections were between £6 and £7. The usual tea and public meeting takes place this evening. ,A similar service took place at the Wesleyan Church, Thorndon. The Rev. A. Reid preaching in the morning and the Rev. Mr. Dewsbury in the evening. Evidently it was quite a red-letter day with the children, and the correctness and taste with which they sung the hymns selected showed that they had given good heed to the instruction given.them. On Wednesday evening a service of song will be given in the church.
